Download the guide to the safety assessment of non-QPS organisms.

Our Scientific Director professor Atte von Wright discusses the safety assessment of non-QPS organisms.

Where a strain of micro-organism is assigned to a QPS group (Qualified Presumption of Safety) and satisfies the qualifications specified, the European Food Safety Authority does not need to carry out any further safety assessment of the production strain. But what to do when the strain is not QPS? Can it be used and on what terms? The guide discusses the starting points and problems, and provides tips how to assess the safety of a non-QPS organism to gain registration.
