Finland-based Biosafe has signed an agreement to acquire the regulatory consulting business of Netherlands-based Regal B.V., expanding Biosafe’s expertise in feed additives and food enzymes. The transaction will bring Regal’s regulatory consulting projects and client relationships to Biosafe, whose broader scientific capabilities include an in-house testing laboratory and bioinformatics services. The transaction is expected to close in September 2026.
The acquisition marks Biosafe’s expansion into regulatory consulting for feed additives and strengthens its expertise in food enzyme authorisations. For Regal’s clients, the transaction will provide access to a broader range of scientific and regulatory services within one organisation, including Biosafe’s own testing laboratory.
Founded in 2000, Regal has specialised in feed additive registrations, food enzyme dossiers, regulatory strategy and project management. Over more than two decades, the company has built extensive experience in European regulatory processes and an international client base.

Under the transaction, Regal’s regulatory consulting business, including its ongoing projects and client relationships, will transfer to Biosafe. No employees will transfer as part of the acquisition.
Ruud Bremmers, founder and Managing Director of Regal B.V., will continue to advise and support Biosafe’s team to ensure continuity for clients and ongoing projects.

The acquisition strengthens Biosafe’s international regulatory consulting business and complements its existing expertise in regulated products across the food chain. Following the transaction, Regal’s clients will be able to access regulatory consulting, dossier preparation, scientific expertise, laboratory testing and bioinformatics services through Biosafe.
